Alfort Alley is America's oldest residential street. Walking along its paving stones between small colorful houses, you can feel like you are in the 18th century. Most of the buildings on this street were built in the 1730s and were inhabited mainly by artisans and merchants. Almost three centuries later, this small street was surrounded by the residential areas of modern Philadelphia, and Alfort Alley has remained almost unchanged with its old-fashioned flower boxes, window shutters and Flemish brickwork. Elfort Alley is a place for all kinds of celebrations, and twice a year, residents of this street let tourists into their homes and tell them about the history of the street and the glorious past of their ancestors.
