Polka Restaurant
Los Angeles, CA

In 1994, Katrina and Andrew Dąbrowski move into their home in Eagle Rock Hills. They explore and rent premises in a nearby small shopping center. The unit was previously used as a restaurant. Since Katrina had a Big Heart for cooking, especially Polish food, they decided to try it and opened a Polish cuisine restaurant.

This year, in June, “Polka Restaurant” opens its first doors for dinners. Over the years, Polka has become very popular with residents of Eagle Rock and Glassel Park. In subsequent years, Polka was invited to TV shows such as “Dinner Drives and Dives” with the famous Guy Fieri, she was also on the local KCET show “California Golds” with Huell Howser. The publicity kept the Polka very busy.

Sometimes people waited more than 2 hours to get a table. In 2011 Katrina and her husband made the decision to retire and move to Warsaw to be closer to their roots and family. They decided to teach Katrina's cousin, Mike, how to handle a Polish woman and how to cook all the dishes. In June 2011 Polka became Mike's venture. Mike was born and raised in fabulously beautiful lakes (2000 of them) in Masuria, Poland. From his youth he wanted to become independent. It must have been in the genes, since his Dad, the owner of the magnificent Castle Hotel in Masuria, is a successful self-made man.

This must also be one of the reasons Mike wanted to get a higher education in the United States. In 2009, Mike, as his name changed in America, graduated from the Department of Business Management at Riverside University. He has since completed a number of culinary courses, as well as an MBA in international business in 2012. He always strives to succeed in what he does. Next chapter To Be Contniue.
