“Willow Ridge Manor”, Villa, Wedding Venue

A house with more than 100 years of history.

Willow Ridge Manor was built as a family home in 1911. It was located on a farm near present-day Kipling and Bear Creek. This was outlined in a publication by the Lakewood Historical Society with this description; “Widely converted from a pre-existing dwelling to a colonial-style residence by George Allen in 1915, the Allen House and Kendalvue Farm occupied historic land. Joseph Rist of Pennsylvania, a lumberjack and grain grower, purchased acreage near the house in 1865 and probably built and named the Pennsylvania House, a stage stop on South Kipling Street in Bear Creek. The property was later acquired by another pioneer, Henry Teller, a 30-year United States Senator [representing Colorado] and Secretary of the Interior in President Chester Arthur's cabinet.

This house was also the residence of Watt Redfield, inventor of Redfield's crosshairs. In the 80's the farmhouse was redeveloped into flats and the mansion fell into disrepair. But a group of people saved the residence from demolition by moving it to its present location, surrounded by red rock formations, south of the town of Morrison. They then breathed new life into the mansion, changing its destiny for a unique wedding ceremony and reception venue. The remodeling retains many of the classic features of the original Colonial Revival style, including elaborate front doors, ornate crown and light pediments, symmetrical windows flanking the front entrance, and a porch with columns.
