About the Role:

Transportation Dispatcher is an administrative professional responsible for coordination and management of the delivery of ground-transported cargo. This role plays a critical part in searching, negotiating, and booking the most cost-effective delivery options with customers and brokers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Coordinating and managing the pickup and delivery of ground-transported cargo;

• Negotiating the best rates with vendors, the most cost-effective delivery options with customers, and the most efficient routes with drivers, all while answering phones when drivers need assistance;

• Leading the negotiation of tariffs and rates with the brokers or customers to obtain competitive rates;

• Conducting load picks up, transit, and delivery by following DOT and company high safety standards;

• Updating and inputting equipment and load-related information in corporate CRM (software);

• Oversee and control cargo loading and securement;

• Building and maintaining relationships with freight brokers and customers;

• Taking on the responsibility of booking the most efficient loads to remain cost/profit effective as a company;

• Following company policies and procedures;

• Resolving freight-related problems both internal and external with brokers/shippers to increase customer satisfaction;

• Communicating with coworkers, to schedule a truck at the location in case of a breakdown;

• Maintaining regular office attendance from 7 am till 5 pm with the following driver’s support out of the personal means of communication (cell phone, home computer, etc).

Qualifications:

• Experience: 2+ years of experience as a dispatcher in the transportation or logistics industry.

• Education: High school diploma required;

Skills:

• Proficient in dispatch software, GPS tracking, and transportation management systems (TMS).

• Knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices.

• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to handle high-pressure situations and problem-solve in real-time.

• Good knowledge and practical daily utilization of HOS;

• Previous experience with Mcleod or ProTransport and Samsara.
